How The Levaplate® System Works

For over one hundred years, installers painstakingly used shims or washers to level a vertical railing post. It was aggravating and time-consuming, not to mention…UGLY! Not anymore! Thanks to Levaplate®, you can level up a post in under 60 seconds (once you get the hang of it).

4 Easy Steps

The Levaplate® is a steel plate with a 3/4” x 3/8” socket jam set screw in each corner. The set screw acts as an adjustable shim, allowing micro adjustments which can level posts on slopes as much as 5 degrees. Levaplate®’s patented design allows the mounting screws to pass through the center.

Step 1

Mark and drill your pilot holes. Set the post in place.

Step 2

Find the highest point. Without adjusting the first set screw, fasten that highest point with a mounting screw. 

Step 3

Go to the second hole and use a 3/8-inch Allen wrench to adjust the set screw. Once it’s in position, fasten it with a mounting screw.

Step 4

Continue working in a circular direction leveling the other corners using the built-in set screws, fastening each hole as you go.

With a little practice, you can expertly install a level post in about a minute. No more wasting time with washers and shims.

Slide the base cover over to hide the leveling technology and create a finished, professional look.

What material is Levaplate®?

We currently offer it in mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

Is it weatherproof?

If you plan to install Levaplate® outside, we recommend using a rustproof coating for mild steel products before installing it. However, the best options for exterior applications are stainless steel and aluminum.

Are there other set screw sizes?

Our standard size set screw 3/4 x 3/8 in. comes standard with all our Levaplate® products. 

We also offer an extended 3/4 x 1/2 in. intended for sloped surfaces of 3 degrees or more.

How far can the set screw be adjusted?

Our standard size 3/4 x 3/8 in. set screw adjusts up to 1/4 in. beyond the Levaplate® base.

Our extended 3/4 x 1/2 in. set screw adjusts up to 3/8 in. beyond the Levaplate® base.

What is the thickest screw I can use?

Levaplate® accommodates a 5/16 in. screw.

What types of fasteners can I use with Levaplate®?

You can use screw anchors up to 5/16 in. diameter for concrete, block, or masonry, and structural lag screws up to 5/16 in. diameter for decking composite or wood.

What types of metal posts can I weld Levaplate® to?

It welds to mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

What sizes does Levaplate® come in?

We currently offer 3 ½ x 3 ½ in., 4 x 4 in., 5 ½ x 5 ½ in., 1 ½ x 4 in. and 2 x 4 ½ in.,4½ in. round and 5 in. round. Coming Soon MEGA 7 x 7 in. x ½ in. plate thickness.
